Someday, someday!

I think I’ve mentioned this before but since today’s Daily Prompt is all about dream vacations:

“What’s your dream tourist destination — either a place you’ve been and loved, or a place you’d love to visit? What about it speaks to you?”

I’ve decided to remind the universe of this dream of mine.

The year was 2004 . . . I was doing my final year thesis on the redevelopment of Downtown Kingston, Jamaica. I needed to find a coastal town I could compare Downtown with in terms of aesthetics, and functionality, and I found Santorini.

Santorini
The island of Santorini Greece

Santorini is an island south-east off the mainland of Greece. A beautiful island, from what I could see, but unfortunately couldn’t be compared to Downtown Kingston as the topography, urban design and to some extent culture and industry differed.

In the end I chose Old San Juan Puerto Rico because of its similarity to Downtown Kgn, but during my thesis days I became obsessed with Santorini.

Here’s why:

1. The white buildings and the blue roofs; the simplicity and uniformity was attractive from the get-go.

Santorini at night: isn’t it beautiful?

2. The city’s night lights; of course all cities seem magical at night with all the lights on and such, but there is something different with Santorini – the lights seem to glow brighter against the white buildings.

The view . . .

3. The view of the Aegean Sea from the hotel patios; there has to be a view, right? And there’s is ah-mazing!

That blue is unreal!

4. And I don’t know if it’s the way the photos are taken, but the sea and pools seem so much more bluer than usual, don’t you think?

So, that’s my dream vacay, you hear the Universe?! That is where I’d looooooove to go, even for say . . . my honeymoon?! *hint hint*

Someday, Someday!

      • Once you visit California you will not want to leave. Unless you live or from the northeast of the united states. I have found many from that region of the country like to visit but wouldn’t want to live there.
